Wanaka is a small town set on a beautiful lake in the Southern Alps of New Zealand. The town has excellent services and facilities, as well being the gateway to Mt Aspiring National Park, and a World Heritage area. The College has achieved excellent academic results over the years and utilises the local environment in its comprehensive Outdoor Education Programme which includes snowboarding, skiing, hiking, rock climbing and kayaking. International students can benefit from studying in a safe, beautiful environment with an emphasis on assimilation into New Zealand's way of life, country and culture.

Mount Aspiring College buildings, grounds and facilities must rank among the best in the country. It was built as a new college in 1986. The college has achieved excellent academic results over the years and has utilised the local environment in its comprehensive Outdoor Education Programme. A wide range of subjects are offered at all levels and class sizes are small.

We accept students from Year 7 – 13. The small size of the college is seen as one of its major strengths, with a supportive family atmosphere in which all individuals are recognised. We welcome a variety of international students to our school and invite you to contact us for more information.

Location Wanaka is a small town set on a beautiful lake in the Southern Alps of New Zealand. It is a safe, peaceful and unpolluted location. The town has excellent services and facilities and as well being the gateway to Mt Aspiring National Park, a World Heritage area.


School Programme

Enrolled students join NZ students in subject classes such as: Art, Economics, English, Graphics, Health, Japanese, Mathematics, Music, Outdoor Pursuits, Physical Education, Sciences, Social Studies, Geography, Technology, Computer Studies to name a few.

ESOL classes teach the NZ curriculum so students can gain necessary qualifications to study towards university. Internationally recognised exams such as IELTS are taught and encouraged at our centre.


The language centre provides ESOL classes for adults, casual students, visiting groups and International College students. The building is warm, comfortable and welcoming. International students can use it for study after school and at lunch time. The facilities rank amongst the best in the country. The College is a state co-educational school which caters for the academic and social needs of all its students.
