Botany Downs Secondary College is one of the most modern, innovative schools in the world. It is a new school, having opened in 2004, and offers 21st century learning in a friendly, caring atmosphere.

Location
Botany Downs Secondary College is situated in the beautiful Eastern suburbs of Auckland, approximately 40 minutes from the City Centre, and 30 minutes from Auckland International Airport. We are 10-15 minutes from great beaches, a large theme park, ice skating, ten-pin bowling, and opposite one of the largest shopping centres in NZ.
Special Character
Our school is built to embody the Whanau, or House system. Each student belongs to one of 6 Houses, which is their home within the school, where they are part of an extended family of teachers and students, and where they have a locker, kitchen facilities, computers, photocopying facilities, their home room, and somewhere to relax and socialise with other students.
Academic Programme
BDSC has high academic standards. We offer exciting subject choices and an opportunity to achieve in the NCEA and Scholarship examinations.
Extra-curricular Programme
BDSC offers a full range of sporting, arts and cultural activities. An excursion is arranged for International Students every term, including a 2 night excursion to an exciting tourism destination.
Student Welfare
Botany Downs Secondary College has a full-time International Student Manager who is dedicated to the welfare of our students. We also have an Academic Dean and Homestay Co-ordinator to help ensure International Students’ success and happiness.
Accommodation
Students may live in a school-approved homestay, or with a family member or close family friend. We have wonderful host families who give students the chance to experience the Kiwi way of life as part of a caring family, and help them to develop their English language skills.
English Language Support
International Students are supported in ESOL classes according to their level of proficiency. We have a Reception English class for new arrivals and beginners, and ESOL classes at all Year levels. Students are tested on arrival, and placed into appropriate English classes.

Homestay fees:NZ$220 per week
