Introduced in 2007, the Immigration Advisers Licensing Act (IALA) aims to protect migrants from receiving poor immigration advice. 

Any agent giving information advice about New Zealand must have a licence (unless they are exempt).

Immigration New Zealand (INZ) does not accept applications from unlicensed immigration advisers.
