I came to Wellington in July 2006, spent my first seven months doing Foundation Studies and I am now doing a double degree programme majoring in Physics and International Relations.

The teachers in Foundation Studies are very helpful and encouraging. The Programme was a good preparation to enter university and to familiarise myself with the New Zealand educational system.

At university I have to be more independent, but my lecturers are always willing to help when I have difficulty. I enjoy the free discussions and the academic environment that Victoria nurtures. Every time I go to the library and see people reading, I feel more motivated and inspired to learn.

The School of Physical and Chemical Sciences has created great opportunities for me in my field. In my first year, I had a chance to participate in an experiment demonstration project and basic experiments in the high-level science of the magnetic resonance of materials. Besides my own major, the great variety of subjects at Victoria has allowed me to take other subjects that interest me such as Anthropology and Philosophy.

My time at a Hall of Residence was also very good, with friendly and fun students from New Zealand and other countries. There are many part-time jobs available which have helped me with my finance. My time in New Zealand has been comfortable and enjoyable, and given me new perspectives about life, different cultures and diverse viewpoints.
