New Zealand Through My Eyes Tour - Day 4

Friday, 2 May 2008

Follow the winners of the Chinese Student Blog competition as they tour New Zealand

Day 4

Started with a visit to Victoria University in Wellington. The students got to see the historic Hunter building and tour through the heart of the University.

A trip to the Tuatara enclosure proved exciting, however, the Tuataras decided that, even with company, it was too cold to come out and say hi.

Next it was a trip on Wellington’s famous Cable Car to visit Victoria University’s downtown campuses. So after a nice walk through downtown Wellington they got to see the North Faculty which is situated in the old government buildings (the southern hemisphere’s largest wooden building), Rutherford House, and the unique Railway Station Campus where they had light lunch and a presentation from Pro Vice Chancellor Rob Rabel.

Then it was a short trip to the very impressive ‘Te Papa’ Museum of New Zealand, where three of the students were interviewed by the Education Review. Then back to the airport to fly to Christchurch.

In the evening they visited Tamaki Maori Village Experience where the students were treated to an interactive walk through the history of Maori through the ages. The students had a fantastic time and even got to enjoy a Hangi (traditional Maori meal) followed by New Zealand’s favourite traditional dessert ‘Pavlova’.
