Kohei Togashi

Name: Kohei Togashi
Born: Japan
Locations: Auckland
Discipline: Veterinary Science and Animal Science

With a goal to study Veterinary Science at Massey University internationally renowned for this programme Kohei Togashi commenced his New Zealand education by enrolling for Foundation Studies through the Massey University English Language Centre.

"At first, I thought it would be just a waste of time, taking this Foundation course. However this course is not about repeating what you have done in your previous study, and indeed, doing this course was worth it. One special thing about this course is that staff and lecturers in Massey Foundation Programme care about the actual lives of the individual students. We are encouraged to ask questions, and ask for help when we need it. I was probably one of the students in this course who asked far too many questions!

This programme enhances not only academic skills, but also teaches skills students that are essential for further study, such as time management and coping with stress."

Kohei quickly settled into New Zealand educational life, winning the respect of his peers to the extent that he was asked to present the end-of-year Foundation Studies speech on behalf of all the Palmerston North-based students.

Feeling ready to take up the next challenge, he now has commenced studies at Massey University for a Bachelor of Veterinary Science, and recommends a New Zealand education to other international students. "My advice to any students who are thinking of studying in the Massey Foundation Course would be to just go ahead and do it. If you work hard enough for it, I'm certain that you'll achieve whatever goals you set yourself in the future."
