Attracted to New Zealand by it's reputation as "one of the most beautiful and friendly countries in the world", Bui Huong was fortunate to be able to receive a scholarship to study in New Zealand. Her selected course was based in Palmerston North, initially at the Massey University English Language Centre (MUELC) for both English language and foundation studies prior to university. MUELC was able to provide her with a great introduction to both her New Zealand education and lifestyle. The course at MUELC was very helpful for me to initially understand Kiwi culture. The classes were always fun, interesting and interactive, especially with Sue Hassall!"
One of the highlights of this time for Huong was the opportunity to build friendships with other international students and of course, other New Zealanders. "I met some of my most awesome friends there from Japan, China, Latin America, Thailand and all over the world! They all love New Zealand for the people and environment here. I enjoyed going on picnics with my classmates and friends. Trying to understand the rules in Rugby was fun too - but I still have lots of questions about that!"
Huong was then able to continue her tertiary studies at Massey University, first completing an undergraduate degree in Information Systems and then a Graduate Diploma in Finance after that.
With these qualifications completed, Huong returned to Vietnam to work for Price Waterhouse Coopers for a year and a half. However, her days in New Zealand have never been forgotten and now she is moving back to continue her career here.
For other students considering an education in New Zealand, Huong thoroughly recommends this opportunity. "Go for it! After completing your study in New Zealand, there will be more opportunities for your future careers and studies - since the New Zealand education system is internationally recognised."
