Science Meets Business at NZ Universities
Wednesday, 2 February 2011
New Zealand's University of Canterbury and Lincoln University have joined forces for a new qualification in Science Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
The Graduate Certificate in Science Innovation and Entrepreneurship would appeal to those who wanted to work in the commercial science and technology sector, said Canterbury University academic coordinator Rachel Wright.
"They will be interested in bringing new science and technology to the market speedily, efficiently and competitively, either for commercial profit or public good."
Dr Wright said the one-year certificate complemented science, humanities and commerce undergraduate courses as well PhD and masters programmes.
Lincoln University entrepreneur-in-residence Garth Carnaby said the "exciting" qualification would lead to unique career opportunities.
