Auckland

Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city, with 1.3 million people.

Space shuttles, computers, pacemakers, televisions and trucks. These are just a few of the immense numbers of products and services which are the result of modern technology. The quality of our way of life depends upon the engineering technician.

Technicians are the skilled people responsible for providing society with such essentials as safe transportation, power for heating and lighting, clean drinking water, food processing and distribution. Without their efforts hospitals could not function and airports would close. Engineering technicians are involved in both the design and production of these and all the other goods and services which form the basis of our way of life.

When you qualify you will play a vital role in the development of society. You may contribute to progress in a number of fields, ranging from rapid and safe transport systems through to lifesaving advances in medical equipment. Or perhaps your interests lie in the reduction of pollution and provision of a cleaner and greener environment. A career as an engineering technician can bring you interesting and well paid positions with great opportunities for advancement.

There are two specialties available to you - Mechanical or Production. You choose your specialty after completing the first year of study.

This qualification is aligned with the National Diploma in Engineering (NDE).
