This programme provides professional education for people who work with children with mental health issues. It also provides a pathway of study for graduates and workers who want to enter this field from related areas, such as social work, counselling, occupational therapy, nursing, teaching, residential care and youth services.
The Graduate Diploma in Child Mental Health is the first stage of AUT University’s integrated Child Psychotherapy programme, which leads to qualification as a beginning Child Psychotherapist. Graduates who complete the Master of Health Science (Child Psychotherapy pathway) can apply for graduate membership of the New Zealand Association of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists.
