Palmerston North Girls' High School is a Decile 9 secondary school situated in the heart of New Zealand's North Island region of Manawatu. Establised in 1902, the school enrols 1,200 young women into Year 9 (ages 12-13) to Year 13 (ages 17-18). Achievement by Palmerston North Girls' High School students is above the National Average at all levels, and the school provides a safe and supportive environment for young women from many nationalities.

Location and Facilities
Palmerston North Girls' High School is set in 6.43ha grounds, amongst the trees and parks of Palmerston North City (population approx 85,000), and is afive minute walk from the city centre. There is a public bus service that provides well for the city, however due to the small size of the area many students are able to walk or cycle to school. This small, safe, prosperous city whichhas a strong focus on education,also hosts Massey University, the International Pacific College (a second university) and UCOL (Universal College of Learning), giving many good choices for Tertiary education in the same region.
Palmerston North is centrally located in the Lower North Island, and is just 2 hours away from the capital city of Wellington. It is located within easy access to ski fields, parks, beaches and forests. The climate is warm in summer and mild in winter, allowing a wide range of outdoor activities at all times of year.

English Support
The PNGHSESOL department delivers English courses from years 9 to 13, including Year 11 to 13 NCEA courses which assist students to achieve National Qualifications as well as IELTS preparation. Teacher Aides are available for targetted in-class support.
Accommodation
Accommodation for International students is available in quality School-arranged Homestays with caring New Zealand families; this helps develop English language skills in a friendly and supportive environment. Private arrangements can also be made if the student hasa Guardian in New Zealand, and our Homestay Manager will visit these homes to ensure suitability and give ongoing support to the families.
