Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) was established in 1905 and is the largest training and education provider in the upper South Island of New Zealand. Every year 3000 students as well as up to 500 international students from all around the world choose to study at NMIT. Approximately 2000 students are on campus at any one time. NMIT offers a wide range of vocational and academic programmes at certificate, diploma and degree level, as well as an internship programme plus a variety of English Language Courses.

NMIT' quality programmes include:

  • English – elementary to advanced programmes with IELTS, FCE and TOEFL examination classes as well as Cambridge TKT for English language teachers
  • Business – well-regarded programmes including certificates, diplomas and a Bachelor of Commerce degree with majors in accounting, management and marketing
  • Computing – very popular programmes from certificate level right through to a Bachelor of Information Technology degree
  • Tourism and Hospitality – diverse programmes in travel, tourism management, adventure tourism, cultural tourism, cookery, restaurant and hospitality

Fees

International student fees range from NZ$13,500 to NZ$19,500 per year for academic programmes.

English Language Study is available at a cost of NZ$375 per week.� Minimum 2 week enrolment.

Accommodation

Our International Student Support Co-ordinator will help you to organise any accommodation of your choice.
Homestay – NZ$195 per week for full homestay or $130 for dependent homestay. Families are carefully selected and will introduce you to the “kiwi” way of life!


NEW on-campus apartments - you will have your own furnished apartment with fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. Costs range from NZ$155 to NZ$175 per week

Facilities and Services

NMIT has excellent facilities. Our modern Library Learning Centre has tutors to help you with English, computing, mathematics and to give you general academic support. There is also free unlimited Internet and email access. Our student centre has a cafeteria, recreation centre and student lounge.

  • NMIT staff will advise you on how to achieve your personal and academic goals. We will arrange your initial orientation programme, help you with your visa and we will also meet you at the airport
  • NMIT Health Centre has a nurse and student counsellors to give you any health related advice you might need
