Belmont Intermediate School

Belmont Intermediate welcomes international students from age 10 to 13 years of age, (Years 7 & 8). International students are taught alongside New Zealand students in a supportive classroom environment to encourage the development of English language skills and social relationships. Our small international student numbers ensure international students that choose Belmont Intermediate have a well integrated authentic New Zealand education experience. International students at Belmont are provided with: • ESOL classes to suit students levels • Bi-lingual support and pastoral care • A dedicated teacher aide to assist international students in mainstream classes • Many sporting and cultural opportunities including basketball, hockey waterpolo, netball, orchestra, choir, dance, and drama. • Academic challenges including Technology, Mathex, Science Fair, Literature Quiz, ICAS Tests and Otago Maths • Small numbers of international students • A peer support buddy system to assist students adjust to their new environment. • Specialist curriculum teaching in science, languages, materials technology, food technology, visual arts, music & performance • Belmont is located next to Takapuna Grammar, providing an easy pathway to high school.
