Belmont Intermediate School
Belmont Intermediate School is a well-resourced decile 10 school catering to the needs of the emerging adolescent. It is situated on the Devonport peninsula on Auckland’s North shore, surrounded by beautiful beaches and only 15 minutes from Auckland city. Built in 1957 Belmont was one of the first Intermediate schools to be established in New Zealand.

Belmont Intermediate welcomes international students from age 10 to 13 years of age, (Years 7 & 8).
International students are taught alongside New Zealand students in a supportive classroom environment to encourage the development of English language skills and social relationships. Our small international student numbers ensure international students that choose Belmont Intermediate have a well integrated authentic New Zealand education experience.
International students at Belmont are provided with:
• ESOL classes to suit students levels
• Bi-lingual support and pastoral care
• A dedicated teacher aide to assist international students in mainstream classes
• Many sporting and cultural opportunities including basketball, hockey waterpolo, netball, orchestra, choir, dance, and drama.
• Academic challenges including Technology, Mathex, Science Fair, Literature Quiz, ICAS Tests and Otago Maths
• Small numbers of international students
• A peer support buddy system to assist students adjust to their new environment.
• Specialist curriculum teaching in science, languages, materials technology, food technology, visual arts, music & performance
• Belmont is located next to Takapuna Grammar, providing an easy pathway to high school.
