Franziska Ullrich

Franziska Ullrich from Germany has chosen, as part of her education, a year at an international secondary school – and she has chosen Avondale College in Auckland, New Zealand.

Thoroughly enjoying her time in New Zealand, Franziska has immersed herself in school life. Cultural experiences and the breadth of opportunities available in education have been particularly appealing to her. “At Avondale College are many different students from many different countries. The lessons are easy and I am most enjoying art. I like that the school is so huge and we can do anything…sports, art, music!”

And the adjustment has been fairly easy. “I like the people! It is different to wear uniform - I see many good points about it. Nobody is allowed to wear jewelry. In the first time it was a bit hard to understand the things that were taught, but now after two months, I can understand nearly everything. I am really happy with the people at the International Student Centre, because they can help us in the most things and they care very much for us. I know that I will cry when I have to leave New Zealand next winter. Maybe I’ll earn some money during my next year in Germany and come back for my holiday.”
