Originally from Gujarat in India, Jagruti Naik originally studied pharmacy at the university there before launching into a career as a pharmacist. She then commenced her travels, first to Sydney, Australia where she spent 2 ½ years completing a Pharmacy Assistant course there and working in Customer Service.
Next was a six-month stint in Northern California was next, before Jagruti headed back to India to study Medical Transcription for eight months, full-time.
However eventually Jagruti wanted to try something new - and New Zealand was the country she came to to do it. “I wanted to get out of pharmacy and get into the business and management field. I came to New Zealand for my career.”
As the first step, she enrolled in the Bachelor of International Business (BIB) Programme at AIS St Helens. “The BIB is very useful. We gain knowledge and skills in all the different business-related fields, which is necessary for work in the future. I really like the small classes here because lots of personal attention is given to students. You make really good friends and it is a homely environment. It’s very multicultural at AIS too, which is great.
“The other benefit of AIS is that you can fast-track your studies and finish your degree earlier than at some other institutions.”
But it’s not only the study environment that has impressed Jagruti. She has also fallen in love with the countryside and the Kiwi lifestyle. “New Zealand is really small and peaceful, which is just what I like. I love it here. It’s so beautiful, there are lots of new places to see and the weather is nice, especially in the summer.”
Once graduated from AIS, Jagruti hopes to secure a management position either in retail or banking.
Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city, with 1.3 million people.
