Chao Zhang

A recommendation from a friend to study at CPIT 18 months ago has changed Zhang Chao’s life forever. Following his friend’s advice, Zhang has been studying at CPIT in Christchurch ever since and has loved every minute.

“I chose CPIT because it is the top tertiary education institute in Canterbury. I was studying English but I’m now studying the Bachelor of ICT. The teachers are very friendly and supportive, the students like studying here and it’s easy to learn practical skills. I really like being here,” he said.

“We recently had a dinner for the international students at CPIT which was great because all the international students were there. Even after the earthquake we were given a lot of options by CPIT about whether we wanted to continue our study but we all wanted to stay in Christchurch and continue to learn and study at CPIT. It’s just great.”

However, it’s not just CPIT that is keeping Zhang in New Zealand. It’s Christchurch – the people, the scenery and, more importantly, the city itself.

“Christchurch is a beautiful city. It’s in the South Island which is far more beautiful than the North Island. The people of Christchurch are very kind and the city is very peaceful,” he says.
