Hugo Gong

I came to New Zealand several years ago to further my tertiary education. Before coming to New Zealand I studied at a university in China, majoring in English and international trade and relations. I had always wanted to study at a university in a capital city, and found Victoria University of Wellington to be the perfect fit - situated in a capital city in New Zealand with a positive, international reputation. 

I started a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration (BCA) in Information Systems and E-commerce at Victoria. After completing the BCA, I went on to complete a BCA (Hons) in Information Systems, graduating with first class honours.

I found my time at Victoria to be wonderful and memorable. I made new friends from different backgrounds, found the staff at Victoria to be professional, knowledgeable, and approachable and was given opportunities to work as a tutor, senior tutor and research assistant.

I am now working at a global IT consulting firm and believe that the most significant contribution from my academic degree has been the ability to diagnose, analyse and resolve problems; the ability to acquire, process and apply new knowledge; and the ability to think critically.
