Winners Improve Their Kiwi IQs

Thursday, 18 June 2009

The winners spent a second amazing day in Wellington under sunny skies, taking in a ton of information about New Zealand.

Their first stop of the day was Te Papa, New Zealand’s national museum. An introductory tour gave them a taste of the huge variety of displays the museum houses, from Maori history, to colossal squid and extinct giant moa birds.

Vikash captured it all on his trusty camcorder, and we can’t wait to see the final production of his New Zealand adventures!

Then it was time to enjoy the sunshine on Wellington’s stunning waterfront. Despite the winter temperatures it was picture perfect outside, and the cameras were clicking.

The winners spent the afternoon at Victoria University of Wellington. They rode the famous Wellington Cable Car up to the University’s Kelburn campus where they got another wonderful view of the harbour.

Then they travelled back down to the central Pipitea campus, which is great for students because it’s right at Wellington’s transportation hub. There they met some staff and students for afternoon tea and a good chat about the many programmes on offer at Vic.

The day ended with a spot of shopping and the “sale” signs beckoned. Hopefully they’ll be heading home with a few well chosen gifts for friends and family and maybe just one or two little souvenirs for themselves.
