Bachelor of Social Practice (Community Development): Acquire the skills and knowledge you need for a career in community development. The only programme of its kind in Australasia, the Bachelor of Social Practice (Community Development) is relevant to a wide range of social, community, counselling, disability, mental health and education services. It emphasises the practical application of theory.
Develop a critical awareness of social and cultural contexts, social justice, class, gender and other issues. You also gain a sound understanding of community and organisational change, community empowerment, social policy and legislation, and sociological analysis.
Further your knowledge of Pakeha, Maori and Pacific Island cultural practices, and psychology, mental health and risk assessment. Explore narrative ideas in counselling and social practice, as well as the theory and practice of effective interventions.
Bachelor of Social Pracitce (Counselling): Investigate narrative and corroborative ideas in counselling and social practice, as well as the theory and practice of effective interventions. Find out how to work with clients, family and community using a variety of approaches and processes, including video, community and self-assessment. Learn to integrate theory into your professional practice, and improve your ability to relate to clients from a range of backgrounds and cultures.
Explore current social policy and legislation, and advance your knowledge of psychology, mental health and risk assessment. Acquire a thorough understanding of social and cultural contexts, community and organisational change and community management.
Bachelor of Social Pracitce (Social Work): Deepen your insight into sociological analysis and social change processes, and become knowledgeable about psychology, mental health and risk assessment.
