The Master of Social Practice equips you with the in-depth knowledge and skills to successfully handle a range of social practice situations. You gain an understanding of the relationships between contemporary perspectives on social practice in New Zealand, theories of power and culture, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. You will also explore a range of research methodologies.
As part of the programme, you undertake either a research thesis (which is worth 120 credits) or a dissertation (60 credits).
In addition to that, you select a range of elective courses in your particular field of interest, exploring issues like managing community organisations, social change, kaupapa Maori and feminism in social practice. Not all electives will be offered every year so it is important to plan individual programmes carefully.
English language requirement: Have an overall IELTS band score (Academic) of no less than 6.5 (with no band score less than 6.0), or a TOEFL score of no less than 575, or equivalent.
