The Postgraduate Diploma in Social Practice helps you further your decision-making skills, and develops your research skills and knowledge about a variety of social practice situations.

You will advance your ability to work confidently with individuals, families and communities in the cultural contexts of New Zealand. You also develop the competence to identify and work with the multiple facets of a situation and to follow a problem wherever it leads, rather than making it fit an established or preferred paradigm.

You gain an understanding of the relationships between contemporary perspectives on social practice in New Zealand, theories of power and culture, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. You also explore a range of research methodologies and select a range of courses in your area of interest, whether it is kaupapa Maori, supervision, transcultural social practice or the management of community organisations.

If you have completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Social Practice and want to continue studying, you can use your credits towards a Master of Social Practice qualification.

English language requirement: Have an overall IELTS band score (Academic) of no less than 6.5 (with no band score less than 6.0), or a TOEFL score of no less than 575, or equivalent.
