Level 8 programme
Registered Nurses will extend their understanding to provide care within a variety of primary health care settings including wellchild/tamariki ora, district nursing, public health, practice nursing, occupational health nursing, whanau ora and pacific health services.
This year-long programme is designed to enhance practice development for Registered Nurses working in the area of primary health care. Students will develop knowledge and skills that reflect their specialty competence in this clinically focused course.
The programme consists of two papers and is delivered as distance learning supported by two week-long tutorials:
- Primary Health Care and Health Promotion
- Praxis in the Community Setting
The programme has five strands in Well Child/Tamariki Ora, Family Health, Population and Personal Health, Complex Health Management, and Health in the Older Adult. This programme also supports graduate nurses in their first year of primary health care nursing.
