The Postgraduate Certificate in Perioperative Specialty Nursing seeks to facilitate the further development of nurses' knowledge and skill in the medical/surgical area of practice.     LEVEL 8

Description:

Level 8 programme

Registered health professionals working in perioperative (medical/surgical) settings will extend their understanding and gain a nationally recognised qualification that reflects their specialty competence in this clinically focused course.  The Postgraduate Certificate in Perioperative Specialty Nursing seeks to facilitate the further development of professional knowledge and skill in the medical / surgical area of practice.  Taught tutorial days are supported by online learning.  The programme is offered in Wellington and Christchurch.

The programme comprises two papers:

  • The Foundation of Specialty Nursing
  • Praxis in Perioperative Specialty NursingNurses develop specialty competencies in Perioperative (medical/surgical) nursing.  Work completed as part of programme requirements may contribute to evidence for use in Professional Development Recognition Programmes (PDRP).  Successful graduates may also gain credits towards Masters studies.

    This programme is Nursing Council of New Zealand approved and eligible for Clinical Training Agency (CTA) Funding available through District Health Board CTA Co-ordinators.
