Graduate Nurse strand - this programme is offered to Registered Nurses in their first year of practice and can be completed over two years.
This programme is designed to build on the existing knowledge and experience of the graduate nurse, whilst providing an environment that ensures the supported acquisition of knowledge and skills in beginning nursing practice. Students are employees of health providers and will have taught theory at Whitireia Porirua campus or in workplace environments. Clinical practice is completed in a variety of placements in their workplace settings.
- Graduate Nurse – for newly Registered Nurses. The Professional Nursing Praxis paper is offered as part of new graduate nursing programmes. Students subsequently may enrol in Nursing in the New Zealand Context the following year and on successful completion be awarded the Postgraduate Certificate in Nursing.
