Diploma in Hotel, Hospitality and Management Level 5
Course introduction
The Diploma in Hotel, Hospitality and Management provides students with an opportunity to learn the skills necessary for supervisory level positions in the industry. The programme provides students with a foundation in the in fundamental skills from theoretical and practical learning while allowing them to expand their learning pathways.
Practice based learning
During the course of studies, NSIA’s students gain workplace experience in NSIA’s restaurant, - a State of Arts facility which provides a realistic working environment. This gives the students an initial taste of the industry and enables the students to apply classroom theories in a practical setting to develop their capabilities and skills.
Outcomes
The graduate of the course will be able to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required of entry level supervisors in the hospitality industry as well as small businesses in general who can enter directly into the workforce or alternatively expand their learning pathways towards further study at a degree level in Hospitality or Hotel Management.

Entry Requirements
Applicants must be 18 years of age before starting the alcoholic beverage unit standards. Those applicants whose first language is not English will require an IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent. Preference will be given to students who have passed Level 2 NCEA, or higher, at secondary school, or achieved a recognised hospitality qualification. Applicants may be required to undergo a NSIA entrance test.
