Course Description
FINANCIAL AND MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING
This subject introduces students to business financial and management accounting theory, using the accounting tools do the book keeping, analysis financial statements and to help assist in the decision making process.
Management of Human Resources
This course examines the ways in which organisation can effectively manage their human resources. Especially, this course focused primarily on an overview of the domain of human resource management (HRM) – its major functional areas and the theories that are the basis for human resource management practices. Objectives were for students to gain knowledge and comprehension of these areas.
MARKETING MANAGEMENT
This paper is designed to provide student with "an introduction to marketing management in organizations and society, including the marketing concepts, the 4Ps of marketing, marketing organization and marketing trends."
PRODUCTION AND OPERATION MANAGEMENT
Production and operations management is the systematic direction and control of the processes that transform inputs into finished goods or services. Operations is one of the primary functions of a firm, while Marketing induces the demand for products and Finance provides the capital, Operations produces and delivers the product (goods and services). This subject provides an introduction to the concepts and analytical methods that are useful in understanding the management of a firm’s Operations, namely: forecasting, just in time, supply chain management, material required planning, inventory management, e-commerce, and other operation techniques. Workload for this subject is in terms of class preparation, review, assessment (assignments, quizzes, mid term tests), readings and examination preparation.
STATISTICS
This is an introductory course in basic statistics, with a business-management perspective, covering data collection, measures of average, dispersion, probability, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, and linear regression. The course investigates the principles and methods concerned with extracting useful information from a dataset, which is then used to help managers make decisions. Throughout this component, we use actual situations taken from the business world in which statistical procedures have been used to help make decisions. We also incorporate other relevant New Zealand examples of statistics, which candidates may encounter on a regular basis.
