The Culinary Institute of New Zealand specializes in professional chef and associated hospitality training. Located in the beautiful Bay of Islands, we are proud of our reputation as a ‘Centre of Excellence’, and our award-winning tutors are some of the best in the industry.
Our Level 3 programme is the first stage of professional chef training. It is designed to give a complete foundation in professional cookery. Students will gain all the skills required for cooking food dishes and working with the main ingredients in a commercial kitchen, using a range of preparation techniques, cooking methods and finishing techniques. The programme combines the following qualifications:
· National Certificate in Hospitality (Basic Cookery) Level 3
· National Certificate in Hospitality (Food & Beverage Service) Level 3
· City & Guilds Certificate in Food Preparation & Culinary Arts
In addition to theory and kitchen training, participation in the Culinary Institute’s restaurant nights as well as National Competitions will give students practical experience in the workplace, and helps them to immerse into the New Zealand culture.
Students who successfully complete this programme can move on to our Level 4 programme.
