Auckland
Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city, with 1.3 million people.
The course is based on NZQA unit standards and prepares students towards internationally recognized CompTIA certification of A+ and introduces the basics of another CompTIA certification- Network+.
The course is divided into two semesters
The first semester covers explanation of PC components followed by in-depth sessions on Computer hardware. Students learn how to assemble service and configure a Personal Computer system. Computer assembling incorporates the basic concepts of trouble shooting and installing operating systems.
In the second semester students continue to learn more about the configuration and are introduced to the basics of Networking. Students learn and discuss various network topologies and commonly used network media. Students are introduced to network protocols and their standards.
Most of the topics are practical “Hands-on” sessions and are done in groups by simulating real life scenarios. The course includes development of presentation skills for jobs and assistance in work placements. Students also carry out research on a course related topic as a part of curriculum. Additional English language/literacy support is also available on campus for all students. NZSE is an authorized testing centre and the international A+ exams are administered on campus by the institute.
Work Entitlement in New Zealand**
Students studying in this course can work up to 20 hours per week and full time during summer break for the academic year. On completion of the course, students may apply for a one-year open work permit, known as Graduate Job Search Visa/Permit. On getting a related job, students can apply for a two year work permit. Students will also gain points towards immigration to New Zealand on successful completion of this qualification.
