This section also includes work on spoken English and pronunciation. This course enables students to get cross credits for one paper towards the NZSE Diploma in Information Technology.

This course is suitable for those who need a preparatory course before moving into further studies. It is based on carefully selected textbooks and a range of other resources and supplementary materials.

Students’ progress is assessed regularly and they receive regular feedback from their tutor. The method of assessment is a regular progress assessment every four weeks. Therefore there are three assessments during the course.

Each assessment is based on the material covered in class during that month. The assessment is skills based.

Each assessment covers skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking, as well as vocabulary and grammar points covered in that month.

Students are expected to average 80% or better in each of the assessments in order to successfully complete the Certificate in English (Advanced). The certificate will accurately present the level of achievement. Students will also receive a completion report stating details such as attendance, how many weeks they were enrolled for and overall performance.
