  • The University of Auckland Certificate in Foundation Studies takes 8 to 18 months (three to six terms) to complete, depending on the student's academic background and level of English
  • A choice of subjects are offered, including Accounting, Economics, Calculus, Statistics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Design, Photography, Painting, Music & Geography
  • A special programme of IELTS Examination Preparation and Study and Information Skills prepares students for study at tertiary level. Skills developed include English language use and research, and understanding the style of study at university.
  • Entry is in late January and mid-July. Students select 4-5 subjects plus IELTS Preparation together with Study and Information Skills.

Standard Entry (12 months) (Minimum English Entry IELTS 5.0 or equivalent)
• The programme offers a choice of subjects, including Accounting, Economics, Calculus, Statistics, Chemistry, Physics, Desig, and Biology .
• Painting, Print-making or Photography are also available
• A special programme of IELTS Examination Preparation and Study and Information Skills prepares students for study at tertiary level
• Starting dates 2010: Monday 25 January & Monday 19 July 
• Starting dates 2011: Thursday 27 January & Monday 18 July 

Fast Track Entry (8/9 months) (Minimum English Entry IELTS 5.5 or equivalent)
• The programme offers a choice of subjects, including Accounting, Economics, Calculus, Statistics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology
• A special programme of IELTS Examination Preparation and Study and Information Skills prepares students for study at tertiary level
• Starting dates 2010: Monday 19 April & Monday 11 October
• Starting dates 2011: Monday 2 May & Monday 10 October

Extended Entry (18 months)  (Minimum English Entry IELTS 4.5 or equivalent)
• The programme prepares students to enter the standard one-year programme
• Designed for students who have IELTS 4.5 and/or their academic record is below the minimum stated academic entry requirement
• Starting dates 2010: Monday 25 January & Monday 19 July 
• Starting dates 2011: Thursday 27 January & Monday 18 July 

Post Foundation (5/6 months) (Minimum English Entry IELTS 5.0 or equivalent)
• Specifically designed for students who have completed either Year 13 in a NZ high school or a foundation studies programme and have narrowly failed to obtain entrance to a NZ university
• Starting dates 2010: Monday 8 February & Monday 19 July 
• Starting dates 2011: Monday 7 February & Monday 18 July
