Course Content The course is divided into three semesters. A student successfullycompleting the required course work may exit at the end of either of the first two semesters with the relevant certificate. First Semester: Certificate in Computer Servicing • Computer hardware and Operating Systems • Identifying, assembling and disassembling computer components • Supporting and troubleshooting hardware • Installing, configuring and maintaining Operating Systems • Supporting and troubleshooting Operating Systems • Partitioning and formatting hard disk drives • Customer communication and interaction, and job related professionalism Second Semester: Certificate in Computer Networking & Communications • Network topologies • Network hardware devices, media and architectures • Fundamentals of network security • Implementing and configuring network protocols • Network communication and routing • Developing professional phone and Help Desk skills • Developing reports and proposals • Working with customers • Making formal presentations Third Semester: Certificate in Linux Systems • Install and administer Linux systems • Configure Linux file systems and performance • Work with the BASH shell and X Windows • Maintain and troubleshoot Linux • Configure networking and security Entry Requirements 1.
