The Postgraduate Diploma of Music Teaching (PGDipMusTch) is developed in consultation with leading singing teachers, provides advanced tertiary teaching education for musicians planning careers as singing teachers. At present the PGDipMusTch is only available with an endorsement in Singing but the NZSM may offer other endorsements in the future.
The PGDipMusTch is the equivalent of one year of full-time study but is well suited to part-time study. Entry requires a BMus (or approval of the Director) and an audition. All students take a common core of pedagogy, musical leadership and performance and specialist papers in Singing. On completion students may be able to proceed to the Master of Music.
