Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city, with 1.3 million people.
With the ageing of the population, general practitioners are being increasingly confronted by the challenge of caring for older people in the community. To enhance the skills of general practitioners in this area, the section of Geriatric Medicine and the Goodfellow Unit have combined their resources to provide a three semester postgraduate diploma, the Postgraduate Diploma in Geriatric Medicine (PGDipGeriatricMed). It is aimed at general practitioners who, having had some experience caring for older people, recognise the need to improve their skills and knowledge.
International students with medical qualifications from an overseas institution may be eligible for entry into this programme, but will not be eligible to undertake clinical studies unless registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
