Auckland

Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city, with 1.3 million people.

The Postgraduate Certificate in Public Health (PGCertPH) provides a specialised course of study in a range of public health topics. Applicants should hold an undergraduate degree or diploma from a New Zealand university, or an approved professional qualification. Students who successfully complete this certificate may apply for credit towards the Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health.

Students may choose a generic PGCertPH by completing the Foundations in Public Health course and two other courses from the Master of Public Health schedule. Alternatively, students may choose courses leading to one of the following specialisations: effective practice, environmental health, health promotion, Maori health, Pacific health, programme evaluation or health services.

International students intending to pursue their Masters studies in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences usually complete this programme as a bridging course before embarking on further study. This allows those with demonstrated ability to advance accordingly.
