Mark Bravo

Mark Bravo has a passion for nursing, helping others and gaining knowledge. Before he came to New Zealand, Mark
was a volunteer emergency room nurse in a tertiary hospital as well as a community health nurse. The volunteer work was something Mark did to practice his skills and to learn more about the line of work he wants to go into.

Mark travelled from the Philippines to Waiariki to study the Graduate Certificate in Infection Prevention and Control.
Mark chose Waiariki because he saw the institution as a great opportunity to gain new experience, different learning
techniques and a new pathway to start his life as a health professional. Mark likes the way the institution accommodates new students who are strangers to the country and its culture.

Mark aims to be the best he can in his chosen field and bioscience really stands out for him. Mark enjoys learning about diseases in the microbial levels. It also helps aid him in his desire to understand the disease process of both common and unusual diseases.

Enjoying his stay in New Zealand, Mark is captivated by what Rotorua has to offer.

“I like the weather and the environment. The country is so clean and the air is fresh and the people are nice. For Rotorua, I like the fact that it is a tourist spot so I am able to actually enjoy this wonderful place every day. I like the lakes and the different things that I can do here to keep myself relaxed and happy.”

Mark wants to stay in New Zealand and complete his competency for nursing. His passion is to become a registered nurse and be able to work toward a greater qualification. Through further study he can become better qualified and return home to aid his local community.
