Media

Television, radio and newspapers are great for improving your English.

TV

A number of free-to-air and subscriber TV channels deliver a mix of international and locally produced programmes. You’ll find programme listings in the daily newspapers.

Some DVD players in New Zealand only play region 4 DVDs.

Radio

There are dozens of AM and FM radio stations, both national and local, including stations specialising in community interests, sport, talkback, Maori and Pacific Island languages, and classical music. Student radio stations are well liked for their ‘indie’ music tastes and irreverent style.

Newspapers

Most cities have their own daily newspaper, others are weekly or bi-weekly. Most suburbs also have a weekly local paper that is delivered free to every household. They contain useful information about community events and services.
